Welcome to Year Two

We will go on a learning journey together looking at various topics and exploring the world around us. The learning in year 2 will be exciting, inspiring and will encourage your child to think deeply. Your child will be encouraged to try new things, be independent, to be challenged and to be critical thinkers. Your child’s social and emotional needs will be met through understanding, kindness, respect and a nurturing environment.

Your child will have many learning opportunities and experiences in the classroom and out of the classroom. In year 2 we also encourage the foundations of learning and ensure these are the building blocks of our learning. Reading is at the core of all learning, and we encourage daily reading of all types of genres, the pleasure of reading at school and at home, shared reading and encourage the exploration of all types of books, in the classroom at home and at the local library.

To see the other exciting learning opportunities, we have in year 2 please look at the curriculum wider overview found here:

Year Two Curriculum and Wider Learning Overview

They were trialling how to make different strokes with the paint and using a variety of tools to make marks in the paint in the style of Charlie French.

 Year Two visited the library!

We also practiced our colour mixing knowledge.

Year Two have been reading 'The Dragon Machine' for their English lessons this term. In their Art lesson, the class used Charlie French techniques from last term to create the patterns in the clay dragon eyes.

designed and made dragon eyes for their cross-curricular Art and English lesson.
