Our Intent
At St John’s, our intent is to develop confident, curious and enthusiastic young linguists who enjoy exploring another language and culture. We aim to build strong foundations in spoken and written French through engaging, practical and meaningful learning experiences. To support this, we are fortunate to work with our native French speaker, Mrs Palmer, who brings authentic pronunciation, cultural knowledge and real-life language use into the classroom. Her expertise enriches lessons across KS2, helping pupils develop accurate speaking and listening skills while deepening their understanding of French life and traditions. Through this approach, we strive to ensure all pupils leave KS2 with a positive attitude towards language learning and the confidence to continue their journey into KS3.
