Our classroom is a happy, busy place where curiosity leads the way. We enjoy working together, asking questions, solving problems, and celebrating each other’s successes. Reading is at the heart of our learning — we explore picture books, chapter books, poems, and everything in between. We believe that stories help us understand the world, build confidence, and inspire creativity.
Being in Year 2 is brilliant because you get to explore so many exciting subjects that help you understand the world in new ways.
Reading is at the core of all learning, and we encourage daily reading of all types of genres, the pleasure of reading at school and at home, shared reading and encourage the exploration of all types of books, in the classroom at home and at the local library.
You learn about Jesus’ miracles, discovering how he helped people and showed kindness, which inspires you to be caring and thoughtful too. In History, you get to study monarchs, finding out what kings and queens were like, how they ruled, and how they shaped the country. In Geography, you explore hot and cold places, imagining deserts, rainforests, the Arctic, and Antarctica, and learning how people and animals survive in different climates. And of course, computing is a favourite—you get to use technology, create things on the computer, and become more confident with digital skills. Year 2 is full of curiosity, creativity, and fun learning that helps you grow every day.
We like to explore our local area with trips to the library and to church to attend Mass. This year our school trip is to Warwick Castle linked with our history topic. We can't wait!
We’re looking forward to a fantastic year filled with fun, friendship, and lots of learning.
